Prayer Ministry
On the second Sunday of each month, after the 10:30am Mass, a small group of parishioners gather to pray for the needs of anyone who wants to receive prayer.
Here is what to expect:
You’ll be greeted warmly by two people who are there to support you. You will be met without judgement and with compassion. We will listen carefully to what you’d like prayer for, keeping anything you share confidential (unless you share something that may harm yourself or another person). We will ask for your name and intention, and make silence and space for you, so that God can work in your life.
We will seek to understand your needs and then pray with you. We will create a safe space and offer to place a gentle hand on your shoulder as a sign of connection.
Our prayer will be simple, heartfelt, and focused on Jesus’s healing presence. We believe God hears and responds to prayer and loves you in this moment.
We focus on Jesus as the healer and use scripture to bring comfort and hope. Your vulnerability is respected, and we’ll pray for your healing and peace, trusting that God hears and answers every prayer.
You do not have to say anything during the prayer time. We do invite you to open your hands and open your heart to receive whatever God wants to give you.
If you are a child (under 12) your parent or guardian is invited to be part of the prayer. If you are neuro-divergent, we will adapt the prayer to your needs.
You might experience silence, gentle words, or a sense of peace. We’ll encourage you to be open to God’s presence and ask for your feedback and how you’re feeling. We’ll remind you that God loves you and wants to be in your life.
After the prayer, we’ll thank you and offer encouragement. We are here to support you, not to give advice or counsel. If you need further help, we will direct you to one of the priests or a trained counsellor.
Some Prayers and Scripture suggestions
Come Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit, and we shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray: O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Scripture If you are facing a difficult situation, these verse from the Psalms invite us to turn to God in our darkest hours.

- “For all about me are evils beyond count” (Psalm 40:12)
- “My tears have been my food day and night” (Psalm 42:3)
- “Out of the depths I call to you, O Lord; Lord, hear my cry!” (Psalm 130:1).

Prayer of Commitment to Jesus
If you have never invited Jesus into your life to be your Lord, we invite you to pray:
Dear Jesus, thank you for dying and rising for me.
Please forgive all the wrong things I have done.
Come into my life today as Lord, and help me to live for you,
from this moment on. Amen.
